Monserrate in Bogotá is a must‑see landmark that delivers both spiritual depth and unforgettable views. Rising to 3,152 meters above sea level, it offers sweeping panoramas of the entire city, making it one of Bogotá’s most iconic viewpoints. The mountaintop sanctuary dedicated to El Señor Caído (The Fallen Lord) is a major pilgrimage site, attracting visitors seeking reflection, history, and cultural connection. Whether you reach the summit by funicular, cable car, or the traditional hiking trail, the experience blends nature, spirituality, and breathtaking scenery. The area also features restaurants and small shops, making it an ideal spot to linger and enjoy Bogotá from above. Overall, Monserrate offers a perfect combination of culture, history, and spectacular views—an essential stop for any visitor to Bogotá.
A nice church on the top. Took the cable car up the hill. The view was fantastic. Highly recommend to visit this place. Buy the fast track tickets as most of the times it’s busy and you need to wait for a long time to get into the cable car.
Wow. Stunning place. You must be prepared to hike. It's steep and high altitude. Church was awesome. I don't know how they built it. Trolley or cable car to top. But at 4 pm only way down is cable car. Get reserved tickets. You have a head of line pass. If not, prepare to stand on slopes no sitting. Food at top French restaurant or amazing hotdog shop. Many gift shops. French restaurant about 70 dollar for 2. 5 star. Hotdog 7 bucks 5 star.
A must-go place. Took a cable-car that shows off a great view of the accent to the top but also the city below. The top is host to the main chaple and a plethora of small buisnesses, has great views of the entire city and the surrounding mountains and jungle.
A lovely visit to Monserrate. I HIGHLY recommend a visit to Restaurante Santa Clara, it was honestly the best meal I had in Colombia. When you buy your tickets in advance you can take either the funicular or the cable car, I suggest the cable car up and the funicular down.
