Interesting museum with artwork of Colombia and primitive history and tools used by the natives in the past. Last Sunday of every month is free to entry and Wednesday from 3-5pm. Otherwise it’s $10 USD. Takes about 1-2h to see everything inside the museum. 3 floors of artifacts and paintings. Pictures are allowed. Most descriptions are in Spanish with some English words here and there. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Very nice exposition covering different topics and time lines. Amazing explanation on everything. The area around the museum is not safe, use Uber, don’t come walking as it’s not safe.
The Museo Nacional is a good place to spend two or three hours. The building used to be a prison, which gives it a special atmosphere. You can see a lot of art and history here, including some beautiful Botero paintings. I visited on a Sunday when it was free for everyone, so it was quite busy but lively. One downside: if you do not speak Spanish, it is hard to understand the full story of the exhibits. It is still worth a visit, though I think the Botero Museum in Bogota is even better.
National Museum of Colombia is a great place to learn about the country’s history and culture. The exhibits are well organized, and the building itself has a unique, historic atmosphere. Worth visiting if you want a deeper understanding of Colombia!
Our main attraction of the day was the National Museum of Colombia here in Bogota. Known also as Museo Nacional, we had found out yesterday that entry was free on Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm – even for foreigners. Hence, we walked quickly back from San Alberto Cafe to the National Museum of Colombia and arrived at 2:45pm. The staff were actually pretty strict about the timing. At about 2:57pm, there was already a small queue forming in front of the ticketing counter and we joined the queue as well. At 3pm sharp, the tickets started to be given out and we were 5th in line to receive our tickets. The museum was loosely arranged into 3 segments. The first floor, about the museum and how it came to be. The second floor about the people and nation of Colombia while the third floor was about the arts and artefacts...
