I tried not to take too many photos this time, so please excuse the limited visual evidence. Operakällaren is Operakällaren. Few restaurants have played such a defining role in shaping the standards of Swedish fine dining, and it continues to carry that legacy with confidence. The experience rarely ventures beyond what you would expect, though the beverage program, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, offers a welcome sense of creativity. Everything is executed with precision and restraint, delivering the kind of quiet satisfaction that Swedes might describe as lagom. The service is exceptional: attentive, polished, and warm without ever feeling intrusive. My only reservation is that a few fashionable ingredients appeared repeatedly throughout the menu, making some courses feel less distinctive than they could have been. Yes, there is a certain tourist appeal to the place, but never to a degree that distracts from the experience. Operakällaren remains a restaurant that understands exactly what it is, and delivers on that promise remarkably well.
A place where history sits in the walls, you can get a different setting, but not a better one. Everybody works in coordination, in harmony. You also get to sit for far longer than other restaurants, maybe because you need it in the tasting menu, but it is so nice not to have to rush your visit. The food is at the top of what can be done in a kitchen. A slight miss in one dish, or it would have been a clear 5 star. I am glad I got to experience it before the upcoming renovation, and who knows, after it might be even better...
Amazing experience at this Michelin Star restaurant. Absolutely a recommended activity especially if you do the whole private dining experience with a group. Enjoyed every bite and some alcohol free cocktails. A very extensive wine selection too!! The bathroom had all the necessities including lotion, deodorant and feminine products.
Amazing ambience for evening drinks and date, just next to the restaurant. Very good snack options.
Maybe the best place for Christmas atmosphere during a christmas table dinner. And staff is very good. However for 4500kr for 2 persons you would expect some interesting things being served and at least all the classic dishes being impeckable quality. But reality is there is absolutely nothing interesting they serve. Not a single dish that is exotic or expensive/lavish. The classics are mediocre at best. Meatballs are rock hard fried minced meat (nothing elegant about the recipe), herrings that vary from the good fatty texture to hard pieces etc. Really really expected something special going here but the food couldn't even place itself on the top 50 of Swedish christmas tables. Sadly I think it's us customers that are to blame for christmas tables. Most places in the City are the same. Overly expensive for food that you can actually make better yourself. The biggest let down of this years foodie adventure. And only good if you think paying 4500kr to dress up with a bow tie makes your day.
